From Factory Trial to Volume Order: How a Hydraulic Crane Factory Won a Southeast Asian Market with Customization

Highlights of the trial:

• The customer operated the crane to fully extend the 30.8m boom and lift an 1-ton test load. Boom stiffness exceeded expectations.

• double extension cylinders inside boom, for complex working conditions, the 2-section and 3-section booms use hydraulic cylinders for boom extension, significantly improving load-bearing efficiency (for even more stable boom extension and retract under heavy loads). They can also be switched to extend and retract 4, 5, or 6 sections of boom simultaneously.

• Larger outrigger span 6meters + rear outrigger stabilizer kept the crane extremely stable.

• FLY-Counterweight, the range of motion can be adjusted according to the working conditions, ensuring greater operational safety.

The fly counterweight effectively reduced forward tilt during heavy lifts. The operator said:

“This small crane is much more stable than other 10-ton units I’ve tested.”

3. Customization: Not Just Changing Numbers, but Adapting to the Local Market

After a detailed understanding of the mobile crane parameters and performance. However, the customer raised a critical concern: “If we ship this crane as-is, it may not pass local registration. Some roads in our country also have strict weight and axle distribution  load limits.”

we didn’t just say “we can modify it.” Our engineers sat down with the customer and went through local regulations and field conditions point by point. Three key customizations were made:

3.1 Body Structure Optimization (for local certification)
Reinforced key stress points while slightly adjusting the subframe to reduce overall height, it can be passed through the low factory gate.

Redistributed front/rear axle loads to meet local road regulations.

3.2 Total Mass Rebalancing
Kept the 11,800 kg total mass but optimized how the counterweight splits — allows quick on-site removal for transport.

Changed the fly counterweight to a modular design (customer can choose to install or remove depending on the job).

The customer is also very satisfied with the product’s workmanship, processing technology, and assembly work control.

4. Deal Closed: From One Trial Unit to a Long-Term Partnership
After receiving the customization proposal, the customer sent their team back to our factory for a second inspection and acceptance test. On the spot, they signed:

Initial order of 10 units (including 2 high-spec versions with fly counterweight)

Technical cooperation agreement – our factory becomes the preferred developer for all customized cranes in their market

Spare parts pre-stocking agreement – Provide timely spare parts and technical support.
